About

This workshop is an opportunity to step away from the busyness of everyday life, turn your attention inward and give yourself time to rest and release.

We’ll begin with a short introduction to Yin Yoga, exploring some of the philosophy behind the practice and its connection with Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and the meridian system. In TCM, meridians are described as pathways through which Chi/Qi (energy) flows through the body, with different meridians traditionally associated with different seasons and themes.

Our Yin Yoga practice will be centred around poses that align with the meridians traditionally associated with autumn. Yin Yoga is a slow-paced, meditative style of yoga where floor-based postures are held for extended periods, often around 3–7 minutes. This practice can help to support relaxation, regulate the nervous system, release physical tension and balance the yang, ‘doing’ energy of everyday life.

We’ll then finish with Yoga Nidra, a deeply relaxing form of guided meditation and rest. Through breath awareness, a body scan and visualisation, you’ll be gently guided towards a state of deep relaxation between wakefulness and sleep.

No previous experience of Yin Yoga or Yoga Nidra is needed.
